From CPS Tim Hammett and Tech Mary Rainville. We've got a gunfight between teenagers and a couple of grocery store robberies among the usual assortment. Also we get a few more details than usual about a domestic involving a violent murderer who was supposed to be in jail. (If he was out on bail, I imagine he violated the terms of that). Also another barricaded gunman with a pitbull.
Both of these incidents ended with suspects in custody and no police personel or others injured. (Unless you count the pitbull who had to be shot in one case). You always hear about deadly force being used when a suspect dies but hardly ever when it the situation is resolved like this. That's the whole point of being able to use deadly force. And that is why the community activists who think that they can limit this use even more than it has been are completely nuts. I don't think a taser would have been much help here.
My favorite is the grocery store clerk who gave the crook the money and then continued to wait on customers. Just another day working in the hood.

MISCELLANEOUS
Mids had 6 curfew citations only to be upstaged by dogs with 20 curfew citations.
Saturday morning - 4th Pct cars were tied up and 6 priority 1 calls came in from 0430-0500, city wide response cars called in and assisted for a short period of time.
34XX Thomas - Officers responded for an attempt pick up on suspect wanted for Domestic Assault 3rd Degree and CSCR who was thought to had previously arrested for murder. Information received was there were guns and kids in the house. Per sergeant's authorization officers forced entry into the home and while attempting to arrest him a pitbull charged officers so was shot and died. Suspect was arrested and two weapons were recovered.
I want to give Sgt. Pulphus, a very public "ATTA-BOY" for authorizing the entry. This suspect was an extremely
violent and dangerous person. Your decision and the officers actions probably prevented additional harm to the
children that were in the home. Inspector Edwards
Officers were dispatched to 22xx Illion on a domestic and upon arrival were confronted by a male who told officers he is armed with a gun. Officers order him to the ground at gunpoint but he makes furtive movement towards his waistband so is maced and tazed. Help call is toned. On the way to booking the suspect told officers he wanted police to kill him.
The above highlights how often officers are placed into harms way during the course of their duties. It appears this
certainly could have been a situation where use of deadly force would have been justified. These officer's great
reaction, tactics, and judgment should be commended. Lt. Arradondo

I am aghast that all this insanity happened in just this one small part of town in just one week! If even one of these incidents happened in my 'burb this would be big news.
Why in God's name are these people not in jail?? The vast majority of these thugs are convicted of any number of violent crimes, yet they are still wandering the street causing grave harm to public safety!
