As much as the MPD has been advertising that serious crime (like homicide) is down this year, it's pretty clear that street crime is still a problem, and robbery, even when associated with assault doesn't always make the news unless it happens to be a reporter as in this light rail station mugging. Police may be looking for a pattern here.

POLICE ADVISORY: Armed robbery in Northrop Neighborhood
Last night (Monday, June 22) about 10:20 p.m., two unknown juveniles robbed a man at knifepoint in an area near the intersection of E. 46th Street and Chicago Avenue in Northrop Neighborhood.
About 10 p.m., the man was cutting through McRae near the tennis courts. The victim said two black males, approximately 15-19 years of age, approached him as he was about to use his cell phone. One of the suspects demanded the victim's phone and punched him several times. The other suspect took the victim's keys and wallet while he was down on the ground. The victim was only able to provide a limited generic description of the suspects.
3rd Precinct patrol officers are particularly on the alert for lurking or loitering people in the area. Residents, please increase your use of good crime prevention techniques and thoroughly read the attached Police Advisory.
