Victim found DOA inside the residence. Victim had been deceased for a couple weeks. The neighbor had smelt an odor and went to check the house. The neighbor kicked in the door and then proceeded to remove items from the deceased residence. The scene was suspicious. The neighbor/AP1 was booked for burglary. CCN: 205776

And don't miss this--slumlord gets busted for driving on a suspended licence and (I assume) improper carrying of his firearm. (No it is not OK to have it on the front seat next to you, even if you think you'll need it, as a North Minneapolis slumlord.)

SQUAD SAW PROBLEM LANDLORD DRIVING IN THE AREA. OFFICER KNEW DRIVER’S STATUS WAS SUSPENDED. DURING STOP, OFFICER SAW A .45MM LASER SIGHTED HANDGUN ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. AP WAS BOOKED. AP AGAIN VOICED HIS HATE.

PG1/father said he and infant were lying in his bed and when he checked, he appeared to move. Later when he checked again, the infant was not breathing.

PG1/mixed race/mother laid the infant boy down to sleep w/her in her bed next to a pillow. When she woke up to feed him, he wasn’t breathing.

V1/BM-17 yrs. arrived at 4 Pct. w/mom stating S1/unk BM-20 yrs. w/silver automatic/wearing red glove on rt. hand/pony tail-dread locks threatened him w/gun after a road rage incident. S1 followed V1 until he ran out of gas. Suspect blocked V1’s vehicle, walked over to point his pistol possibly a 40 cal at V1’s head yelling something about hitting his car and then fled. S1’s veh/’90’s 2-door red Pontiac w/black bumper and a BF passenger was w/S1. V1 was frightened/shocked.

V1/BM was in Jenine’s, a business, and got into an argument w/S1-BM 15-16 yrs. w/black semi-auto handgun. V1 punched S1 in face 2 xs and S1 pointed gun at V1’s feet/shot one time. V1 not injured and did not want anything to do w/assault. S1 GOA.

V1/BF-30 yrs. walked in to report she had been robbed after withdrawing $596 from ATM at a gas station/walked to the bus stop when 4 unk BMs approached/demanded money. S1 had a knife because of cuts to her 4-arm/leg.

V1/BF-52 yrs. was strong-armed by 3/unk BMs 18-25 yrs. all wearing black skull caps as she walked up to her apt. bldg. door/grabbed her $50 purse containing $400 cash/$300 in money orders. Suspects were GOA.

V1/BM-38 yrs. was at the intersection when S1/known BM pulled a black semi-automatic handgun/demanded money. V1 was struck on the head by all 4 suspects causing his injuries. They stole $27/ pair of ½ karat earrings. The 3 BM suspects were unknown and it was too dark to ID.

V1/BM-19 yrs. was waiting for his friend/cousin to meet him at 24th Av & Emerson Av N to visit a friend’s house. They entered the back yard and 8 BMs were on the porch. S1 walked up to V1 putting a silver revolver against his back and told him to give him the $200. V1 gave him a $100 and a $1 bill/told to go away. S1 came out front yelling “Hey you only gave me $100.” V1 took off running. Suspects GOA.

V1/AM-19 yrs. and V2/WM-19 yrs. had just left the store walking to V1’s home when 2unk BM suspects 19-20 yrs. ran toward them. V1 fell and S1 pointed a silver handgun demanding money. Stolen were cells, wallets and $3. Little info/suspects GOA.

V1/mixed race female-22 yrs. was walking in an alley when a blue 4 dr. Saturn w/dents in doors drove up. S1 drove and S2 jumped out demanding money w/black silver handgun. S3 grabbed the (5) $100 bills out of her hands/fled.

V1/BF-55 yrs. claims to have been robbed after walking w/$754 in her hand by S1/unk BM/dreadlocks/20-30 yrs. who she has seen at a drug house. She had just walked past it to go to Cub Foods and hasn’t smoked crack in a year. S1 was GOA.

V1/NA Female-21 yrs. and V2/NA Male-24 yrs. were at a 4th of July party and walked home when bottle rockets were shot at them by 4 BFs and 3 BMs. The BFs charged V1 punching/kicking so V2/husband tried to protect her when the BMs jumped him/stole his wallet/$200/house keys/cell. Suspects later stole $800 from a dresser in their apartment and GOA.

Shots were fired by AP1/Eddins, Joseph-BM/19 yrs., AP2/Thorpe, Cortez-BM/19 yrs., AP3/Wells, Tony Lynn-BM/25 yrs. and S1/BM-27 yrs., S2/BM-20 yrs. A STURM RUGER, .357 Cal, 4” BBL, 6-shot revolver USA and TAURUS, .38 Cal Special, 3” BBL, 5-shot revolver were recovered.

23XX Irving Ave N 09-199679

Squads respond to shot-spotter activation at above location; they hear more gunshots. Officers surround house and eventually make contact with occupants/check the house for possible gunshot victim(s). Officers locate a .40 handgun, a 9mm handgun, and a short barrel, pistol grip .12 gauge shotgun inside the residence. Officers also recover a spent .12 gauge round outside, along with 9mm DCC. 3 parties booked for PC Reckless Discharge of a Firearm. AP was captured on video exchanging something for money. When stopped AP had 70 grams of marijuana in his possession. (CCN-09-200463)

FRIDAY (07-03):

MV Pursuit at 0200 hours, CCN 09-203578: Officer tries to stop a car that was speeding NB on 4th Street from 34th. The driver finally stopped just north of Dowling. Driver is believed to be intoxicated/handed over to U of M squad for DWI.
DOA at 11XX North 7th Street at 2351 hours: When Officers arrived; paramedics were performing CPR on a five month old baby boy. The baby later dies at HCMC. There does not appear to be anything suspicious, but I request 710 to the scene. They do respond and officers remain at the apartment so a search warrant can be obtained. CCN 09-203575.
Robbery of Person at 32XX Logan at 0228. Vic is jumped from behind by two suspects. He suffers a possible broken ear drum. A possible suspect is chased by officers, including K9/bitten. CCN 09-203603.

Officers assisted Bomb Unit recovering several hundred pounds of fireworks from a traffic stop/a consent search.



THEFT

37XX Dupont Av N 09-203958

Victim reports a Mossberg 12 Gauge shotgun w/scope stolen from residence last night. V1 reports her daughter snuck a boy into house last night/now shotgun is missing.



SATURDAY (07-04):

Recover Gun: Officers stop a car near 27th and Knox at 0130. Driver was digging around near the center console, and officers recover a loaded 357 revolver.
Another infant DOA. Officers responded to a baby not breathing call at 19XX GVR at 0406 hours, but this was a bad address. A few minutes later officers found the father (and the correct address) at 25XX GVR. Infant was just over a month old, and sleeping with father. The father woke up and discovered the baby was lifeless. Medics transported the infant to NMMC where it later passed away.
Shooting at 36th and Humboldt at 0030 hours. Officers get call that a shooting victim showed up at NMMC at 0201 hrs. A very uncooperative 16 YOA V1 said it happened at 0030 near 36th and Humboldt. No scene was located. 09-204845.


Burglary of Dwelling

26XX Penn and 26XX Penn 16:00 hr s 09-205293

Suspect reached into a window at 26XX Penn and took the victims laptop. Victim chased the suspect on foot. The suspect entered a garage at 26XX Penn. Victim and another party found the suspect and held him until police arrived.

SUNDAY (07-05):

26th/Oliver Ave N 09-205851

Officers called to NMMC on a possible shooting/notified by doctors that the wound (to head) there was no penetration. Victim was unconscious but stable (NLT). Victim told witness that he was jumped near 26th/Oliver Ave N by unknown males, and he pedaled his bike to 27th/Dupont, where witness found him/transported him to NMMC. No scene was located. At this time, it is not known if this was a shooting or if the victim was struck in the head with a blunt object.

15XX W Broadway – Janine’s Foods 09-206489

Officers responded to a silent alarm at Janine’s Foods. Upon arriving, officers learned two teenagers were fighting inside the store. One teen then pulled out a gun/shot at victim inside store/missed. S1 then fled. There was some damage to floor. V1 was uncooperative/fled while officers were attempting to gather information. S1/BM, 15 yrs. was wearing all black clothing.

Squad was called to the alley behind 41XX Aldrich Av. N. Victim states as she was walking down the alley, a vehicle drove behind her and front passenger got out and demanded victim’s money. Victim told him she didn’t have any and suspect then pointed a gun at victim. Victim again said she had no money. A backseat passenger got out of the vehicle had attempted to get money from victim. The suspect with the gun then struck the victim in the head with the gun. Suspects were able to get the victims money, approx. $500.00. The suspects then fled in the blue vehicle, southbound in the alley.



PC Weapons 09-206799

Squads called to a female with a “shotgun” in front of 31XX Fremont Av. N. Squads arrived to find a group of approx. 10 people arguing in front of the residence. Several females pointed out a female fitting the original description of the female with the gun. Rifle was found inside the residence and female booked for PC Weapons. Another male on scene was booked to DABUSE 5.
