4th Precinct Weekly Highlights

Standard issue muggings, assaults etc. this week. The funeral of homicide victim #14 yields at least one illegal gun.

The highlights are compiled by the staff of the MPD 4th Precinct (North Minneapolis).

4TH PRECINCT HIGHLIGHTS - WEEK 611– Oct. 06 to Oct. 12, 2009

ASSAULTS:

ASLT1

21 Av N & Aldrich Av N Thursday 10-08-09 20:31 hrs 09-317670

Officers dispatched to a shots call (approx. 6 shots). Employees in store stated V1/BM-21 yrs. was behind the store in lot when there was a drive-by with S1/unk - 0 driving an unk red/maroon/4-dr? V1 was shot in the hand.

20XX Sheridan Av N Friday 10-09-09 19:22 hrs 09-318578

V1/WM – 30 yrs. shoved by AP1/Harris, Dejon/BM – 47 yrs. breaking his wrist and possibly broken collarbone. AP1 booked HCJ without incident. V1 worked for AP1 as an independent contractor and had an argument over not being paid for services.

49 Av N & Upton Av N Saturday 10-10-09 00:25 hrs 09-318914

Officers to a call of a person w/gun. V1/WM – 31 yrs. stated the driver of a black Honda/MN XKB-605 waved a black auto-handgun through the rearview mirror of his vehicle. Fearing for his life, he called 911. A TLE was conducted/a replica handgun was recovered from AP1/Xiong, Yue-AM 18 yrs. /transported to HCJ.

23XX Golden Valley Rd Saturday 10-10-09 09:15 hrs 09-319189

V1/BM-43 yrs. said he and W1 were hired by landlord to remove 2 vehicles out of the garage. When they arrived, S1/unk-mixed race male/38 yrs. (through the back upper window of this residence) began yelling at them to get out or they would be shot. V1 tried to explain but S1 shot at him. V1 was not hit/no medical. S1 was not ID’d/released. No shots detected on Shotspotter.

30XX Emerson Av N Sunday 10-11-09 09:27 hrs 09-320158

AP1/Smith, Remaro-BM 22 yrs. and AP2/Leikas, Ann Marie – Mixed race female 22 yrs. are boyfriend/girlfriend. AP2 is related to V1/BM-26 yrs. and V2/WF-58 yrs. Officers called to scene/observed V2 running out front door saying that AP1 had 2 guns. AP1 ran back into house when he saw Officers. Officers saw AP1 fighting with V1 in kitchen when AP2 grab a toaster and hit her brother (V1) in the head/cutting his forehead. Guns were recovered/AP1’s car towed and both APs booked HCJ.

5 Av N & Logan Av N Monday 10-12-09 18:14 hrs 09-321056

V2 stated a red Ford Cougar pulled up and asked “What’s up w/all that mugging?” V2 believes it was directed towards V1 because of his response to S1 (“We ain’t worried about you.”) They then observed S1/unk BM 20-25 yrs./600-601”/short fade, let S2/BM 18-25 yrs. /506-507” w/thin beard/blond hair w/pony tail, get out/walk around to other side of veh where S3/unk-mixed race female 18-22 yrs./500-503”/lt. brown long hair in pony tail hand him an open purse. Suspects then went into store. They came out and as the victims were walking, the suspect car turned, headed toward them with window down and started shooting. V1/BM-19 yrs. was shot in neck (NLT). V2/BM-23 yrs., V3/BM-17 yrs. and V4/Mixed race male-28 yrs. were shot at w/no injuries.

V1/WF – 30 yrs. was sleeping from being very intoxicated after a Vikings game when AP1/Alar, Christopher – WM 35 yrs. went to her room/molested her. AP1 and others including her boyfriend were all there and heavily intoxicated after the game.

25XX 3 St N Thursday 10-08-09 15:22 hrs 09-317378

Officers were sent to an ALARM call when they observed AP1/Miller, Roy-BM/40 yrs. who had a warrant and a non-compliant sexual offender. He was booked HCJ.

Fremont Av N & Plymouth Av N Tuesday 10-06-09 14:00 hrs 09-315491

V1/BF-57 yrs. was at above when S1/BM 25-31 yrs. (509-600”) approached/stole her prescription medication. S1 had followed her off the bus. S1 fled. V1 couldn’t remember the type of medication that was stolen.

22 Av N & Fremont Av N Tuesday 10-06-09 20:15 hrs 09-315754

V1/BM – 16 yrs. was riding his mountain bike home when S1/unk BM 19-22 yrs. wearing a black hoodie pulled out a black automatic handgun/demanded money. V1 said he didn’t have any so S1 took the bike and fled.

18XX Girard Av N Thursday 10-08-09 16:41 hrs 09-317435

AP1/Collins, Jermaine-BM/21 yrs. assaulted and took cash from V1/AP2 Sherve, James – AM/34 yrs. in rear of location with a black semi-automatic gun. AP2 fled off in AP1’s vehicle apparently in a drug deal gone bad. AP1 ran leaving gun behind/recovered by Officers.

V1/BF – 42 yrs. was walking when S1/unk BM/20-25 yrs. in all black came up behind her/grabbed her purse w/$850 cash.

36XX Penn Av N Friday 10-09-09 18:25 hrs 09-318529

V1/BM – 14 yrs. was outside a convenience store when he accidentally dropped $10 and S1/unk BM 20-25 yrs. black short hair w/micro twists wearing a red jacket w/grey sleeves grabbed it away from him and proceeded to spend it in the store.

41XX Lyndale Av N Saturday 10-10-09 19:32 hrs 09-319611

Officers informed that S1/unk BM 27-28 yrs. (600”) was armed w/gun and that V1/mixed race-male/32 yrs. was laying down on ground after being pistol whipped/punched – severe head trauma. The girlfriend of V1 had dropped him and 2 friends off at CAMDEN LIQUOR. When they came out, S1 demanded money from them. When S1 started the assault, the 2 friends took off. S1 got the wallet – no money.

A .22 cal MARLIN, Bolt Action Rifle, USA, Mfg. was located in basement used by all residents.

AP1/Taylor, Wilbert – BM 47 yrs. caught with “KELIN” BRAND STUN-GUN resembling a cell phone and drugs.

S1/BM – 18 yrs. was with a group after the funeral of Eaton. Officers received call of one w/gun in waistband. Group ordered down except S1 decided to flee/apprehended w/ a RD IND .38 Cal 6-shot revolver w/taped grip (no barrel) Miami, FL.

AP1 caught with STERLING .25 cal, semi-auto 2 ¼” BBL pistol/Sterling Arms Gasport, NY. and also charged ROBPER.

AP1/BM – 17 yrs. caught with WESTERN MARSHALL (HAWES FIREARMS CO.) .357, 6-shot revolver, 6” BBL, LA Calif/Germany.

Officers responded to shots call and see a male refusing to stop. Officers chase suspect into residence where officers see suspect throw a baggie of suspected crack cocaine to the floor. He was booked PC NARC. Officers found a car that was shot on 24th/Irving.

* Asian Male gets into a car with Black Male to buy Crack

* At above location, Black Male robs Asian Male with a handgun and beats him up

* Black Male lost his gun during the fight

* As Black Male goes to pick up his gun, Asian Male drives off with his car and crashes it

* Black male to jail for Robb Per, and PC weap

* Asian male to Hosp. (lumped from fight, NLT) with a tag for Loitering



Shooting

21/Aldrich 20:32 hrs 09-317670

Squads dispatched to a shots call at 21/Aldrich. Upon arrival, they locate a shooting victim that had run into 700 Broadway (Merwins). The 21 y/o male victim had a NLT gunshot to his right thumb. V1 stated that he was at 21/Aldrich when a small red 4 door came by WB on 21st and a passenger fired several rounds at him. V1’s cell phone and several shell casings located at scene. Vacant house at 21XX Aldrich had been struck by 3 rounds.



FRIDAY (10-09-09):



SATURDAY (10-10-09):

18:30 hrs 09-320435

Officers were initially dispatched to a fight call at approximately 1830 hours. As squads arrived, witnesses reported shots fired from inside 30xx Bryant Av N. The suspect (later AP) would not respond. Response cars were called and an outer perimeter was set up. After negotiators made contact with the suspect/AP, they were able to talk him into coming out of the house. AP was booked for PC Terroristic Threats. Guns were recovered after a search warrant was obtained.



SUNDAY (10-11-09):



MONDAY (10-12-09):

SHOOTING

5th & Morgan 18:14 hrs 09-321056

Officers responded to area on a shooting. V1 was located and found to be shot in the neck. Victim was conscious and stated there was a verbal argument between suspects/victims at GlenWood Market. As victim and friends were walking home, suspects drove north in an alley and opened fire on victims. Victim #1 was only one hit by a bullet. Suspects fled in a red Mercury Cougar which was later located abandoned. V1 went to Hsp. with NLT.
