If you're a reader of this Minneapolis Crime Watch blog, you already know it's been dormant for a few months. That thing called Life has happened to the few contributors and got in the way. A while ago Margaret had contacted a couple of northsider bloggers, including myself, and asked if we were interested in helping to keep the crime watch blog going, at least at a minimum. I was unable to help at that point in time, but recently realized I missed having the 4th precinct highlights available to internet search engines and realized that since I already get the highlights emailed to me each week, I could post them up on this blog and at least have that content out there for the google bots to feast on. Margaret is not gone, she's just busy, and hopefully we'll hear from her in comments and maybe a few postings here and there. But she's around, she hasn't left us all together.
So here I am, contributing to the Minneapolis Crime Watch blog, for an unknown amount of time and an unknown amount of contributions. Let me tell you a little bit about me. My name is Megan, I am a northsider for 8 years now, not far from Penn and Broadway, so if you know the area, that's where I live. I try to stay in tune with who's who, what's what, what's going on where and when. I've been reading Margaret's version of the crime watch blog pretty much since she took over, I don't think I was aware of it before she was the main contributor.
I'll try to follow Margaret's style that's been established here, mostly because I don't see any reason why it needs to change too much. My main priority will be getting the weekly highlights up, and I'm not sure how much blogging I'll do about other crime stories, mostly due to that thing called Life, plus if you see my profile, you can see I've got a couple of other blogs that I help keep up.
I'd love to hear from you if you have a crime story that might be interesting to the crime watch readers, you can email me at goodponyz at yahoo.

Excellent! I'm so glad to see this blog come back to life. I think with a mover and shaker such as yourself running thigs we'll all be in for a treat. Let the crime stories roll.

While I appreciate your willingness to help with this blog. I am concerned that your being a contributor will cause the crowd of trolls from your other blogs to infest this blog which provides straight facts and not opinion to Northside residents? Would it be possible to find someone who is less of a lightning rod to publish the crime reports?
Anon, your comment is appreciated, but no, I don't think it would be possible to find someone who is less of a "lightening rod." First of all, this blog is about crime and people are bound to find something to critize in commentary and anything really, found here. If you puruse the back issues of this blog, you'll find plenty of flames against me and other people.
Megan has stepped up when I repeatedly begged many others publically and privately to do so. I think we should just let her do her thing here.
And trolls should be forwarned, if you start flaming Megan for any reason other than what she writes here about crime, your comments will get deleted. Criticism has always been encouraged on this blog but threats, off topic rants and comments unrelated to the topic of crime in Minneapolis have no place here.
Thanks Margaret! I'm glad to read that trolls will not be tolerated on the Minneapolis Crime Watch Blog.
Also, unsubstantiated allegations against specific, named people are slander or libel and are not acceptable for comment on the blog. If you have evidence or are witness to a crime, you should report it to authorities. If a crime and or a criminal's name has been published or released into the public record by police, then comment on the person or the act is totally legitimate.
Any chance you need someone to provide the 2nd precinct (or any other precinct) highlights as well? I know someone used to post them on occasion and I've missed seeing them.
If all that's needed is a person to register with the MPD to get them and then post them here, I'd be happy to take it on.
You should check out the Eastside Defender blog. They don't post often but they focus primarily on the 2nd precinct. There are also links to how to get on the MPD 2nd precinct crime alert lists. The NE Citizens Patrol also used to put out a weekly email newsletter that I posted but I haven't seen one in some time.

Nick, if you want to forward the 2nd precinct highlights to me at goodponyz at yahoo, I'll post them up on this blog. Thanks!
Yeah, eastsidedefender and the NEPatrol folks haven't put out anything regular in quite awhile. I've even offered to pitch in and help them but never heard anything back.
I'll see if I can get on the emailing list for the 2nd and start forwarding them along if I do.
