4TH PRECINCT HIGHLIGHTS

(Note:  this post is a catch up and these are not the most recent highlights)

4TH PRECINCT HIGHLIGHTS----WEEK 663---October 5th---October 11th, 2010  
 
MPD provides this public safety information as a public service.  These highlights are not reflective of all incidents handled or investigated by the MPD at this time.  All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

ARSON:

36XX Emerson Ave N           Thursday            10/7/10            2042 hrs                 10-307879
MFD arrived on the scene of a garage fire at this location.  It was on the south side of the garage & was burning through the wall.  V1/female, 38 yrs, met with MFD & stated her neighbor came over & told her about the fire.  Fire patterns showed the fire melted some plastic items on the floor of the garage.  V1’s son’s vehicle was in the garage & had prior damage from a domestic dispute with his girlfriend.  Also, a former tenant at this address complained that V1 had been stealing her belongings in the garage.  Due to a positive hit for hydrocarbons & disputes surrounding the residence, MFD determined the case of this fire was arson.  No injuries.  Property damage is estimated at $1000.

28XX Humboldt Ave N             Thursday           10/7/10            0000 hrs                           10-307009
Officers heard Dispatch air a shots call & arrived on the scene.   V1/male, 21 yrs, was located lying face down on the ground with a black automatic gun in his hand.  Officers recovered the weapon & noted V1 had been shot in the upper right thigh.   Witnesses were located & separated to obtain information.  Some reported hearing too many shots to count.  No specific suspects were established.  V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.

Lyndale ave N & Plymouth Ave N      Thursday          10/7/10      1655 hrs                    10-307640
V1/male, 26 yrs, was driving in the above area when S1’s blue pick-up truck cut over, almost striking V1’s vehicle.   While stopped at a red light, V1 honked his horn at S1.  S1/male, 26-34 yrs, got out of his vehicle & went to V1’s driver’s side window.  V1 turned away from S1, who then punched V1 once in the face & took off.  V1 had a deep cut above his left eye, a cut on his left cheek, & a chipped upper left tooth.  V1 was unable to obtain S1’s license plate, as S1 was hauling a trailer, which obscured the view.  S1 was GOA .  V1 stated he would obtain medical treatment.

25th Ave N & Humboldt Ave N       Friday          10/8/10            0330 hrs                            10-308208
Officers responded to the hospital on the report of a victim with a gunshot wound.   V1 was in the operating room in critical condition with a gunshot wound to the stomach when officers arrived.   Officers spoke with W1/male, 22 yrs, who explained that V1/male, 25 yrs, met up with known AP1/male, 25 yrs, for a narcotics sale.  At this time, unknown S1/male, 22 yrs, shot V1 twice.  V1 was loaded into a vehicle & rushed to the hospital by his friends.  AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Assault 2.  No further information on the location of S1.

Broadway Ave W & Dupont Ave N     Saturday        10/9/10        1600 hrs                       10-309899
Officers responded to the hospital to take an assault report.  V1/male, 24 yrs, was observed with scuff marks on the side of his head & chin.  V1 held his left hand & also walked with a limp, complaining of injuries to his hip.   V1 told officers he was with his friend, known S1/male, 21-23 yrs, & V1 took S1’s crack from him because S1 owed him money.  V1 stated he was going to run with the crack & “throw it away” & S1 swung at V1.  S1 then got into his vehicle & started driving toward V1.  V1 jumped in the air in order to avoid the vehicle.   S1’s windshield cracked when it was hit by part of V1’s body.   S1 recovered his crack & fled.  V1 was treated at the hospital for his injuries.

Officers responded to the above location.  V1/female, 17 yrs, stated that S1/male, 23 yrs, her ex-boyfriend, pointed a handgun at her, then threw a chair through her window when he observed V1 had a male friend inside the address.  S1 was GOA .  V1 was not injured.

13XX Golden Valley Rd        Saturday           10/9/10                    1820 hrs                           10-309911
Officers responded to unknown trouble at this location.  Officers observed V1/male, 28 yrs, with a 2 inch cut & a smaller cut on his forehead.  V1 complained of severe pain around his left eye.   W1 explained that V1, her fiancĂ©e, was standing on the sidewalk in front of his house when 3 unknown male suspects walked by.  Suspects & V1 began talking/arguing.  V1 only speaks Spanish.  S1 struck V1 in the head with a metal object & fled the scene.  V1 appeared to be dizzy & was transported to the hospital.  Suspects were GOA .

27th Ave N & Emerson Ave N     Saturday         10/9/10              1932 hrs                            10-309981
While officers were on a suspicious vehicle stop, a vehicle pulled up & parties yelled that they needed an ambulance.   Officers observed V1/female, 19 yrs, in the back seat, who appeared to be semi-coherent.  V1 was unable to answer questions & seemed unable to move.  Witnesses told officers that known S1/female, 28 yrs, does not like V1.  They stated S1 punched & kicked V1 to the ground then stomped on her head several times while she was on the ground.   Ambulance was called & transported V1 to the hospital.

32XX Fremont Ave N            Tuesday              10/5/10            0914 hrs                        10-305077
V1/male, 22 yrs, was at the above location, visiting friends.  V1 left & returned when he realized he forgot his cigarettes.  Known AP1/male, 40 yrs, & AP2/female, 38 yrs, assaulted V1.  AP1 took V1’s money & cell phone.  AP2, AP1’s girlfriend, struck V1 with a baseball bat.  V1 went to the hospital via ambulance.  Officers apprehended both suspects & they were booked for PC Robbery.   V1’s wounds non-life threatening.

14XX Plymouth Ave N        Tuesday            10/5/10            2305 hrs                            10-305898
V1/male, 50 yrs, delivered a pizza to the above location.  When V1 pulled up in front of the address, S1/male, 20-30 yrs, approached him & pretended he was the party who ordered the pizza.    S1 slapped V1 in the head, took the pizza & Pepsi, then ran.   V1 was not injured.  The pizza & pop (valued at $14.55) were not recovered.  S1 was GOA .

17TH Ave N & James Ave N      Wednesday       10/6/10       2129 hrs                         10-306883
V1/male, 23 yrs, was walking in the above area when he was approached by approx. 10 males.  V1 knew he was going to get “jumped” so he began walking very fast.  At some point, unknown S1/male, 16-25 yrs, ran up to V1 & hit him in the head with a bottle.  S2/male, 16-20 yrs, grabbed a plastic bag away from V1 which contained V1’s work gloves & safety glasses.   V1 ran home & called 911.   V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance due to his head injury.  Suspects were GOA .  Total loss is valued at $15.
 
ROBBIZ
21st Ave N & Thomas Ave N       Thursday         10/7/10        1337 hrs                    10-307478  
V1/male, 34 yrs, is a cab driver for Skybird Cab & picked up S1/male, 23-28 yrs for a ride to 20th & Thomas Ave N.   S1 asked V1 to pull over at the above location, then put his arm around V1’s neck & placed a knife to his side.  S1 reached into V1’s shirt pocket & stole $47 in misc. bills.   S1then got out of the rear of the cab & fled on foot.  V1 chased after S1 but was unable to catch him.  V1 did not have any injuries & refused medical assistance.  It should be noted that V1 stated the loss was his personal money & did not belong to Skybird cabs.   S1 was GOA .

V1/female, 47 yrs, was outside her garage when S1/male, 18-25 yrs, asked if she had a cell phone he could use.  V1 replied “no” & S1 snatched a necklace off V1’s neck & ran.   V1 was not injured.  The necklace is a gold chain valued at $600.  S1 was GOA .

James Ave N & Lowry Ave N     Thursday       10/7/10        2230 hrs                     10-307980
Officers responded to a robbery of person call.  V1 & V2, males, both 18 yrs, stated known S1/male, 17 yrs, & unknown male S2, 17-25 yrs, robbed them at gunpoint, taking a $300 Coach purse; $22 in cash; & misc. ID & papers.  Victims were not injured.  Suspects were GOA .

43XX Newton Ave N             Friday             10/8/10            2309 hrs                         10-309124
V1/male, 16 yrs, was leaving Henry High School when unknown S1/male, 16-19 yrs, came up from behind him & turned V1 around.  S1 punched V1 on the left side of his face with a closed fist.   S1 then grabbed V1’s left arm & pushed him against a fence.  At this time, multiple other males helped S1 hold V1 against the fence & S1 took V1’s wallet.  Loss included $10 in cash; the $12 wallet; & misc. ID & papers.  V1 refused medical attention.  Suspects GOA .

36TH Ave N & Russell Ave N    Saturday       10/9/10               2200 hrs                 10-310842
V1/female, 25 yrs, was walking to the store when she was confronted by 3 male suspects, approx. 19 yrs-old.  S1 began throwing rocks at V1 & S2 demanded that V1 hand over her purse.  When V1 attempted to walk away, S2 grabbed V1’s purse off her shoulder & knocked her to the ground.  Suspects then fled.  Loss included a Coach purse valued at $300; cough medicine; other pills; & ID.  V1 was not injured.

7TH Ave N & Humboldt Ave N      Monday       10/11/10        0002 hrs                   10-311383
Officers responded to a shooting & located V1/male, 45 yrs, on the front steps of an address on James Ave N.  V1 had a gunshot wound to his left hand & right leg.  V1 told officers he was shot at the above location when he was driving & was pulled from his vehicle by 3—4 unknown suspects.  Suspects all had handguns & attempted to rob V1 of his gold chain.  V1 stated a fight ensued & he was shot.   V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance with non-life threatening wounds.  No loss.

Officers were dispatched to the above location on a robbery of person at gunpoint.    V1/male, 32 yrs, stated he exited his residence & noticed a male across the street, talking on his cell phone.  As V1 neared his car, another male appeared & pulled out a chrome, snub-nosed revolver , demanding V1’s wallet, car keys, & cell phone.  V1 stated his paycheck & birth certificate were inside his wallet.   V1 was not injured.  Suspects GOA .

Fremont Ave N & Lowry Ave N         Monday          10/11/10         1020 hrs                  10-311768
V1/female, 41 yrs, left the grocery store at the above location, carrying bags & pulling a suitcase.  S1/male, 35-40 yrs, came up behind her & asked if she needed help.  V1 replied “no” & S1 pulled the purse from V1’s arm & ran.  Loss included $415 in cash; 2--$28 bus cards; & 2 asthma inhalers.  V1 was not injured.  S1 was GOA .

17TH Ave N & Girard Ave N         Monday          10/11/10          1950 hrs                       10-312198
V1/male, 27 yrs, was walking when he heard people talking behind him.  V1 observed S1/male, 18 yrs, standing in the middle of the street & V1 believed S1 had a gun, though he wasn’t sure if he saw one.  S2/male, 18 yrs, walked toward V1 & one of the suspects yelled “Get him!”  V1 dropped his takeout catfish & chicken wing dinner & ran to his house to call 911.  V1 was not injured, but was visibly upset & shaking.  Suspects were GOA .  Value of the meal is $10.
 
 
WEAPONS;

WEAP---Carry a Weapon without a Permit
30th Ave N & Penn Ave N            Saturday         9/10/10             0511 hrs                       10-309436
Officers conducted a traffic stop after observing a headlight out on a vehicle.   Officers observed an open bottle containing an alcoholic beverage partially full inside the car.  Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered a .40 caliber loaded pistol under the passenger’s seat.   Passenger AP1/ male, 26 yrs, stated the pistol was his & that the driver did not know about it.  AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons.  AP2/ female, 36 yrs, was cited & released for Open Bottle, No Proof of Insurance, & the non-working headlight.
