30XX Colfax Ave N Friday 9/17/10 1141 hrs 10-285828
Officers were dispatched to the above location on a shooting. A male victim was reported to have been shot & was down on the ground. Officers arrived & observed V1 on the sidewalk. EMS arrived on the scene & V1 was confirmed DOA. No further information at this time.

47XX Colfax Ave N Wednesday 9/15/10 0328 hrs 10-283422
MFD responded to a vehicle fire at this location. The male owner was home & on the scene. The origin of the fire was the passenger compartment. The entire dashboard was melted & burned down to the wiring. The vehicle’s doors were burned down to their frames, as well as the front & rear seats. Fire did not spread to the engine, but the radiant heat melted the vinyl siding on the garage across the alley. The owner stated that his car was broken into the previous night. Suspect(s) threw a brick through the passenger window & attempted to steal a CD player. They also broke into the glove box. The gas tank was opened & the cover was stolen. The owner did not make a police report at that time. MFD determined the cause of the fire was arson. Estimated damage is $700. No suspects. No injuries.

18XX Oliver Ave N Saturday 9/18/10 0000 hrs 10-287079
V1/female, 32 yrs, parked her vehicle in front of the above location. Unknown suspect(s) broke the driver’s window & put a small gas can on the seat. Next to the can was a newspaper which was partially charred. Nothing was burned. Officer photographed the scene & removed the can. No further information at this time.

8XX Russell Ave N Saturday 9/18/10 0045 hrs 10-286743
MFD responded to a car fire at this location. A white Audi was found completely engulfed in fire from the passenger compartment. Fire patterns showed a clean burn pattern to all 4 doors & the hood for the passenger compartment. Also, all 4 tires were flat. The interior of the vehicle was burned cleaned. A caller stated he heard a “boom” & then saw the fire in the car. MFD determined the cause of the fire was Arson. Estimated damaged to property is $1000. The vehicle owner is a female who lives in St. Paul. No injuries.

34XX Penn Ave N Sunday 9/19/10 0309 hrs 10-288046
MFD responded to a car fire at this location. The vehicle was a 1988 Chevy pick-up which was parked behind the house & up on a block because the owner was replacing a fuel pump. The fire started in the passenger compartment & since the vehicle was not working, MFD determined the cause of the fire was Arson. V1/male, 41 yrs, feels that the ex-boyfriend of V1’s girlfriend is responsible for the fire, but no one was seen. The seat was burned down to the metal frame & the dashboard melted & burned off, exposing wiring & the heater. Estimated damage is $400. No injuries.

27XX Girard Ave N Thursday 9/16/10 1345 hrs 10-284859
V1/male, 18 yrs, was on the street with some friends when shots were fired at him from a moving vehicle. V1 was hit & sustained a minor, non-life threatening injury. Witnesses saw the suspect vehicle & gave descriptions of the shooters. Officers found the suspect vehicle a short distance away. Suspects ran from officers, but were apprehended. AP2/male, 23 yrs, had a handgun in his possession. AP3/male, 17 yrs, stated AP1/male, 21 yrs, & AP2 were the shooters. AP2 stated that AP3 was the one who shot V1. AP1 & AP2 were booked in HCJ & AP3 was booked in the Juvenile Detention Center for PC Assault 2. V1 was transported to the hospital by a relative.

36th Ave N & Penn Ave N Friday 9/17/10 0704 hrs 10-285633
Officers were dispatched on the report of a stabbing. Officers located V1/male, 42 yrs, who had a stab wound in his upper back along his spine. V1 stated that 2 juvenile males, 16-17 yrs, walked past him & he thought they just bumped into him until it was observed that his shirt was bloody. V1 stated the 2 juveniles didn’t say anything, but were laughing after the stabbing. S1wore a brown hoodie & S2 had a red hoodie, but V1 did not get a good look at their faces. Suspects GOA. V1 transported to the hospital via ambulance for a non-life threatening wound.

18XX Lowry Ave N Sunday 9/19/10 1243 hrs 10-288299
Officers responded to this location on a possible robbery. V1/male, 14 yrs, stated he was jumped by 5 males, 15-18 yrs. V1 suffered scrapes, bruises, & lacerations to his face. He also stated his arm hurt from being kicked. Officers transported V1 to his home. V1’s mother took him to the hospital & it was learned that V1 had a concussion, fractured skull, & would need stitches in his face. V1 never saw the suspects or what they looked like. Suspects were GOA.

Osseo Rd & Victory Ave N Tuesday 9/14/10 1545 hrs 10-282728
V1/female, 15 yrs, stated she was walking home from school & was texting on her cell phone as she walked. Unknown S1/male, 17-20 yrs, ran up to V1 & attempted to steal her cell phone. V1 stated she grabbed his hand & scratched it. V1 struggled with S1 for a while until she was able to push him away from her & recover her cell phone. S1 fled. No injuries. No loss.

Golden Valley Rd & Penn Ave N Thursday 9/16/10 0700 hrs 10-284626
V1/male, 49 yrs, came to the Pct. to report a robbery. V1 stated he was contacted by known S1/female, 23 yrs, who asked for a ride to south Mpls. V1 questioned her & S1 became angry, threatening him with a scissors. V1 was able to grab the scissors from S1. At that time, S2/male, 35-40 yrs, arrived on the scene & pointed a revolver at V1, taking the van keys & driving off with S1. No injuries. It should be noted that on 9/17/10, Lt. Lund, 4th Pct Investigations, spoke with V1 who confessed he fabricated this story, as S1 was using his van & had not returned it. Lt. Lund informed V1 that he will be cited for giving false information. Case closed.

29TH Ave N & Logan Ave N Saturday 9/18/10 1419 hrs 10-287218
Officers responded to the above location on the report of an assault. V1/male, 49 yrs stated that known S1/male, (unknown age), saw him (V1) walking with a gas can. S1 stopped & assaulted V1 after demanding money from him. S1 grabbed the gas can & poured gasoline on V1, threatening to kill him. S1 took $62 from V1 & fled in a red or maroon SUV. V1 declined medical. S1 was GOA.

33XX Penn Ave N Monday 9/20/10 1825 hrs 10-289509
Officer responded to a robbery of person call & met V1/female, 19 yrs., who was crying & holding her neck. V1 had visible red marks on her neck. V1 stated she knows S1/female (unknown age) & they got into an argument over V1’s coat. S1 demanded the coat & tried to take it from V1. S1 grabbed V1 by the neck & squeezed. V1 did not lose consciousness, but was dizzy & light headed. V1 gave up the coat to prevent further assault. S1 tried to take V1’s purse, but V1 would not give it up. S1 left in a maroon Grand Prix. The loss is about $100 for the coat. V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance.

V1/male, 16 yrs, stated he was robbed at gunpoint. V1 stated he just got off the bus & was walking home when S1/male, 25-29 yrs, approached him on a bike & asked for a bus transfer pass. V1 gave S1 an expired pass. S1 then pulled out a silver revolver & placed it against V1’s neck, demanding his wallet & money. V1 gave S1 his wallet which contained $2. S1 took the $2 & gave the wallet back to V1. S1 then fled on the bike. V1 was not injured. Suspect was GOA.

Broadway Ave W & Colfax Ave N Monday 9/20/10 2120 hrs 10-289704
V1/male, 32 yrs, stated he was the victim of a robbery. V1 was inside a grocery store & observed unknown S1/male, 25-30 yrs in the store. V1 & S1 did not speak nor have an altercation. When V1 left the store, S1 was hiding around a corner & suddenly appeared, asking if V1 had a lighter. V1 stated no & S1 pulled out a silver handgun, putting the muzzle to V1’s chin & saying “Give me what you got.” V1 did not move & S1 retrieved $47 from V1’s pocket & fled. V1 was not injured. Suspect was GOA.

WEAP-Carry a Weapon without a Permit /Narcotics Violation
34th Ave N & Fremont Ave N Wednesday 9/15/10 0006 hrs 10-283311
Officers conducted a traffic stop after observing an equipment violation. Officers smelled the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. The driver, AP2/male, 48 yrs, had a baggie of marijuana on his person. Officers found marijuana on the backseat of passenger AP1/male, 32 yrs. Officers also found a jar of crack cocaine (tested to be positive). A hanky covered a handgun under the passenger seat & a magazine with 5 live rounds was located under a seat cushion. AP3/male, 35 yrs, was the front seat passenger. AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons & PC Narcotics. AP2 & AP3 were booked in HCJ for PC Narcotics.

49th Ave N & Humboldt Ave N Sunday 9/19/10 2330 hrs 10-288789
Officers observed AP1/male, 20 yrs, running from a bus near the listed location. AP1 looked back several times at the bus while he was running. Officers observed AP1 holding the right side of his hip, gesturing as if he had a gun. Officer’s stopped AP1 on the sidewalk & AP1 fled on foot. AP1 was apprehended in Shingle Creek & officers recovered an unloaded revolver where AP1 had fallen into the creek. AP1 was booked into HCJ for PC Weapons.

24th Ave N & James Ave N Monday 9/20/10 2032 hrs 10-289650
Officers observed a vehicle fail to stop at a posted sign & initiated a traffic stop. Officers smelled the odor of burnt marijuana & had all parties exit the vehicle. Officers searched the car for any narcotics or contraband & located a handgun in a backpack that belonged to AP1/male, 18 yrs. While seated in the squad, AP1 uttered spontaneously “Man, that gun’s mine.” AP1 was booked into HCJ for PC Weapons. AP2/male, 17 yrs, was cited & released for Driving after Revocation.
