4TH PRECINCT HIGHLIGHTS----WEEK 666—Oct. 26---Nov. 1, 2010  

MPD provides this public safety information as a public service.  These highlights are not reflective of all incidents handled or investigated by the MPD at this time.  All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

ASSAULT:
Assault 1—Great Bodily Harm
25th Ave N & Lyndale Ave N              Thursday            10/28/10         2120 hrs             10-329503
V1/male, 41 yrs, & his girlfriend, W1/female, 37 yrs, were sitting in a car at the above location, waiting for known S1/male, 39 yrs.  W1 stated the meeting was arranged to make a drug transaction.  W1 got out of the car for a few minutes & S1 approached the vehicle, firing several rounds at V1, who was in the driver’s seat.   V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance.   S1 was GOA.    

Assault2—w/a Dangerous Weapon
5XX Lake St E                         Monday                   11/1/10                   1615 hrs              10-333530
V1/male, 53 yrs, owns the used car lot at the above location.  S1/male, 40-55 yrs, distracted V1, after V1 started up a 2001 Ford Explorer.  S1 jumped in the vehicle & drove off, with V1 clinging to the luggage rack.  V1 let go at one point & another employee picked him up, at which time they pursued S1 in the stolen Ford.  They followed S1 to Olson & Van White, where they lost him.  V1 stated he did not have injuries & refused medical attention.   Suspect & vehicle were not located.

36th Ave N & Fremont Ave N        Tuesday          10/26/10             2100 hrs             10-327500
V1/male, 17 yrs, was walking when he was approached by unknown S1/male, 20—25 yrs, who brandished a gun & demanded money.  A struggle for the gun ensued & V1 was shot in the foot.  S1 fled the scene on foot.  V1 was taken to HCMC by a friend with a non-life threatening wound.  No loss.

Broadway Ave W & Irving Ave N      Wednesday    10/27/10         2250 hrs           10-328573
V1/male, 19 yrs, stated he was standing on the corner at the above location when S1 & S2, males, 18-50 yrs, approached him.  V1 stated they asked if he had “weed” & when he said no, S1 pulled out a black semi-automatic handgun & made V1 walk behind an old auto repair shop.   Suspects took V1’s black leather flight jacket & 2 cell phones, then fled on foot.   No injuries.  Police searched for suspects without success.

26TH Ave N & Oliver Ave N           Thursday          10/28/10         1620 hrs               10-329190
V1/male, 14 yrs, walked to the store to get snacks with $4 that his mother gave him.  On his return, V1 encountered known AP1/male, 13 yrs, who walked up to V1, lifted his shirt, & exposed the handle of a gun.  V1 gave AP1 his bag of food & AP1 fled on foot.   V1 told officers that AP1 has robbed him before.  Officers searched the area & located AP1, who was transported to V1’s location for a show-up.  V1 positively ID’d AP1 & AP1 was transported to the Juvenile Unit for PC Robbery.  No injuries.

27TH Ave N & Thomas Ave N        Thursday       10/28/10          2001 hrs                   10-329431
V1/male, 38 yrs, stated he was in the above area looking for a friend’s house when he stopped at the above intersection.  It should be noted that the doors on V1’s vehicle were not locked. Unknown S1/male, 23-27 yrs, approached the vehicle, opened the front passenger door, & pointed a semi-automatic handgun at V1, demanding V1’s money.  V1 got out of the vehicle & fled to a nearby gas station.  V1 observed S2/male, 23-27 yrs, standing on the sidewalk close by, who was possibly a lookout.   S1 drove off in V1’s Chevy Malibu, which also contained V1’s wallet & phone.  No injuries.  Suspects were GOA.

Three female victims, 17, 19, & 34 yrs, & one male victim, 19 yrs, pulled over in front of the above location because they were having car trouble.   Victims were approached on the passenger side by 2 unknown male suspects, 18-30 yrs.  S1 brandished a gun & waved it at the occupants of the vehicle.  Both suspects demanded the 4 victims give up their wallets, cell phones, & car keys.  Victims complied & suspects stole 2 cells phones, car keys, & a wallet containing $300.  Suspects slowly walked away & V3/male, stated he saw S1 fire a shot in the air.   Victims ran to a pay phone to call police.  No injuries.  Suspects were GOA.

V1/male, 27 yrs, was walking in Folwell Park when he was approached by 2 unknown male suspects, 20-25 yrs.  Suspects demanded his wallet & one stated he had a gun, but none was seen.  V1 was punched several times by both suspects in the face & torso, causing facial bruising, small lacerations, & V1 to be very disoriented.  Suspects fled the area & a caller reported seeing them get on a metro transit bus.  V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance.  Loss included a $20 leather wallet; $11 in cash; & various credit & bank cards.

V1/male, 23 yrs, was standing at a bus stop when 2 unknown males, 17-20 yrs, stood behind him.  S1 grabbed V1’s shirt sleeve & demanded his money.  S2 had a curved blade knife & asked S1 if he should stab V1.  S1 went through V1’s pockets & took his wallet.  V1 was able to get free & run.  Suspects were GOA.  Loss included a debit card; student ID card; wallet; & $20 in cash.  V1 was not injured.

10XX Logan Ave N            Saturday        10/30/10           1400 hrs                              10-331351
V1/male, 17 yrs, & V2/male, 19 yrs, were exiting V1’s vehicle which was parked at the above location.  Victims were approached by 2 unknown male suspects, 19--22 yrs, who drove up in a red/maroon PT Cruiser.  S1 approached V1 with a black handgun & told him to give him all his money & take off his shoes & socks.  S1 took V1’s ID card & 2 Apple i-Pods, then ran back to the PT Cruiser.  S2 approached V2 demanding everything he had, & took V2’s wallet & fled back to the PT Cruiser, which then drove off.  No injuries.   Loss included the i-pods valued at $300; 2 ID cards; a $100 wallet; & a set of car keys.

33RD Ave N & Knox Ave N        Monday        11/1/10         2110 hrs                            10-333821
V1/male, 34 yrs, was standing on the corner at the above location when he was approached by 2 unknown male suspects, 15-30 yrs.  S1 stuck a black .38 revolver in V1’s face & demanded items from his pockets.  V1 gave suspects his wallet which contained a MN ID card; EBT card; & $200 in cash.  Suspects also took V1’s home & car keys & fled the area on foot.  V1 was not injured & did not require medical attention.

30XX Knox Ave N             Wednesday                  10/27/10                1930 hrs                 10-328381
The 4th Precinct Community Response Team set up a detail with information that a known felon was in possession of a firearm.   S1/male, 27 yrs, was watched & when he drove off in his car, officers attempted to initiate a stop, but S1 evaded officers then fled on foot.  S1’s vehicle was blocking traffic & needed to be towed.   Officers observed a loaded handgun in the center console, as well as S1’s cell phone.  The gun & cell phone were property inventoried & S1’s vehicle was impounded.

52XX Vincent Ave N          Friday                  10/29/10                 1104 hrs                        10-330005
Officers executed a Narcotics/Weapons search warrant at the above location.  Officers located 118 grams of crack/cocaine, 147 grams of Marijuana (total), & a Tech 22 machine pistol.  AP1/male, 25 yrs, was arrested & booked in HCJ for PC Narcotics & PC Weapons.  AP2/male, 25 yrs, was booked in HCJ for PC Narcotics as 55 grams of marijuana was found on his person.  AP3/female, 38 yrs, was booked for PC Narcotics as the large amount of crack/cocaine was found in her bedroom.

Broadway Ave W & Thomas Ave N   Monday    11/1/10              0930 hrs                       10-333193
Officers attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding & not stopping for a stop sign.  The vehicle fled from officers & during this time, AP2/male, 22 yrs, was observed throwing a long gun out the window.  The vehicle was eventually stopped & narcotics were found in the vehicle & on AP1/male, 23 yrs.   AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Narcotics & PC FLEEING.  AP2 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons.
