4TH PRECINCT HIGHLIGHTS-WEEK 669-Nov. 16th-Nov. 22nd, 2010

MPD provides this public safety information as a public service.  These highlights are not reflective of all incidents handled or investigated by the MPD at this time.  All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

ASSAULT:

Assault 3---Significant Bodily Harm
41XX Colfax Ave N          Friday                         11/19/10              1318 hrs                  10-351177
Officers were dispatched to an assault in progress. V1/female, 46 yrs, was barefoot in the alley with blood on her arms & legs.   V1 stated that a tow truck driver was hooking up her vehicle to tow it when she ran out & got into the vehicle.  The driver, S1/male, 30-35 yrs, began to hit V1 & punched her in the head.  S1 dragged V1 out of the vehicle, finished loading the vehicle, & left.  V1 said she observed a gun in a side holster on S1, but he never took it out.  V1 had a very deep cut on her right arm & abrasions on her arms & knees.  Paramedics were called.   It was later determined that V1’s vehicle was being repossessed.   S1 was GOA.  

Assault 3---Significant Bodily Harm
34th Ave N & Fremont Ave N         Friday              11/19/10          1720 hrs                  10-351386
Officers responded to the above location on the call of an assault on a bus driver.  V1/male, 46 yrs, the driver, stated he picked up a group of approx. 10 males that became disorderly on the bus.   V1 activated the silent indicator on the bus for police assistance & continued his route.   The suspects demanded to be let off the bus at the above location.  Most exited the back door, but S1 exited the front & the rest came to the front door, with 3 parties throwing large pieces of snow/ice, which hit V1.   Ambulance arrived on the scene & paramedics recommended that V1 be transported to the hospital for evaluation.  V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance.  Suspects were GOA.   

ROBBERY:

ROBPER
22XX Lyndale Ave N                      Wednesday         11/17/10         2040 hrs                10-349600
V1/female, 57 yrs, was getting off the bus near the above location when 4 unknown male suspects, 15-18 yrs, ran to her from across the street.  S1 pushed V1 down & told her if she got up, he would kill her.  S1 patted V1 down looking for money.  S1 took V1’s purse & the suspects fled.  V1 was not hurt during the incident.  Loss includes $50 in cash; the purse; gloves; & 4 packs of cigarettes.  Suspects were GOA.

13XX Lowry Ave N                  Friday                 11/19/10          1410 hrs                      10-351228
V1/female, 23 yrs, was inside the Library at the above location.  V1 was seated at a computer with her cell phone next to her.  S1/male, 18-25 yrs, walked up to V1 from behind, pushed her on the back, grabbed V1’s phone & fled out the door.  V1 was not injured.  Suspect was GOA.  Value of the I-phone is $450.

37TH Ave N & Girard Ave N     Saturday        11/20/10         0345 hrs                        10-351943
V1/female, 21 yrs, stated she was walking down the street when she heard some footsteps behind her.  V1 then heard S1/male, 15-45 yrs, tell her to give him everything she had or he would stab her to death.  V1 complied, giving S1 & S2, male, 15-45 yrs, her pea coat & purse.  V1 was then pushed to the ground.  V1 said one of the suspects punched her in the face & bit her in the hand while she struggled with them.  Suspects fled on foot.  V1 was transported to the hospital via ambulance.  Loss is V1’s purse containing $20, & her coat valued at $200.  Suspects were GOA.

Broadway Ave W & Dupont Ave N     Saturday       11/20/10        1732 hrs               10-352299
Officers responded to an armed robbery & spoke with V1/male, 16 yrs.   V1 stated he was attempting to buy marijuana from 2 male suspects, age unknown, when one of them threw him to the ground & pulled out a gun.  The other suspect reached into V1’s pocket & stole $40.  Both suspects fled on foot.  V1 was not injured & refused medical attention.   Suspects were GOA.

ROBBIZ
2XX 26TH Ave N               Monday             11/22/10            1947 hrs                              10-354099
Officers responded to a possible robbery in progress at the listed location, a garage that leases & repairs taxi cabs.  V1/male, 48 yrs, owner of the biz, told officers 2 unknown male suspects, 37-43 yrs, entered the biz carrying dark colored handguns.    V1 & V3/male, 36 yrs, were in the office area of the biz. & V2/male, 38 yrs, was standing just outside the doorway.  Victims were ordered to the ground.  Suspects first approached V2 & S2 pistol whipped him.  V3 then made a run for the front door & was able to escape, even though S2 was chasing him.   At this time, S1 entered the office & demanded money, taking $400 & a Nokia cell phone from V1’s shirt.  S1 reached under the counter & retrieved $3000---$4000 in cash belonging to the biz.  S2 returned & suspects fled out the front door, getting into a gold colored mini-van, driven by S3/male, 24-26 yrs.   V1 ran outside to check on V3, fearing he had been shot, as V2 heard several gunshots.   However, V3 had escaped & phoned police.  Suspects were GOA.  V2 was transported to the hospital via ambulance.         
 
WEAPONS:

WEAP---Carry a Weapon w/out a Permit
48XX Dupont Ave N              Wednesday             11/17/10               0737 hrs                   10-348859
Officers responded to a person with a gun call.  Witnesses saw AP1/male, 18 yrs, with something white covering his face, pull out a gun & cock it.  Officers located AP1 & ordered him at gunpoint to put his hands above his head.  AP1 tried to remove a sawed off shotgun from his waistband.  Officers brought AP1 to the ground & he was placed under arrest for PC Weapons.  AP1 was booked in HCJ.  

WEAP---Carry a Weapon w/out a Permit
26th Ave N & Penn Ave N       Thursday          11/18/10              1508 hrs                       10-350260
Officers observed AP1/male, 14 yrs, standing in front of a convenience store making eye contact & attempting to engage people as they passed by.   AP1observed officers & started to walk out of the parking lot.  Officers observed the handle of a handgun sticking out of AP1’s front hoodie pocket.  AP1 was apprehended & the gun was recovered.  AP1 was transported to the Juvenile Unit & then booked in JDC for PC Weapons.

WEAP---Carry a Weapon w/out a Permit    /  Obstruct Legal Process /    Disorderly Conduct
33XX 6th St N                      Saturday            11/20/10                 1103 hrs                        10-352074
Police were called to the above location after Fire Fighters & Paramedics requested immediate help.  Two teenage brothers had been fighting with weapons & one fled the scene.  The mother of the brothers stated AP1/17 yrs, had been recklessly shooting a BB gun outside & she took it from him.  AP1 became hostile & physically confronted her, causing her knee to pop out.  She requested EMS & S1, 16 yrs, her other son, came to her aid.  EMS arrived & found themselves between the 2 fighting brothers.  One was trying to stab the other with a screwdriver.  3 Fire Fighters received minor injuries.  AP1 also made threats to them of physical harm.  AP1 was booked at the HC Juvenile Detention Center.
