MPD provides this public safety information as a public service. These highlights are not reflective of all incidents handled or investigated by the MPD at this time. All persons are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Asslt2—w/a Dangerous Weapon
44th Ave N & Logan Ave N Wednesday 5/25/11 1515 hrs 11-147059
Officer responded to the report of shots fired & a male victim who had been shot. Officer located V1/male, 21 yrs, sitting on a bicycle at the above location. V1 stated he had been shot in the leg & shoulder. He also stated he had been riding his bike & didn't know who shot him or if he was the intended target. V1 was treated by EMS for non-life threatening injuries. No suspects or evidence located.

6XX Broadway Ave W Friday 5/27/11 1800 hrs 11-149561
Officers were conducting surveillance & notified marked squads that PC was developed to arrest 2 males for Narcotics. AP1/male, 30 yrs, had a baggie of narcotics in his pants. As officers attempted to remove the baggie, AP1 pulled away & swung his elbow, striking an officer in the face several times. AP1 was eventually taken into custody & booked in HCJ for PC Assault 4. AP2/male, 23 yrs, was cited & released for loitering & trespassing.

38XX Colfax Ave N Saturday 5/28/11 1241 hrs 11-150351
AP1/male, 25 yrs, made threats to V1/male, 54 yrs, & V2/male, 36 yrs, while in his vehicle at the above location that he was going to return with a gun. Earlier, AP1 was observed by V1 speeding through the area in a vehicle where several people, including children, were picking up storm debris. V1 yelled at AP1 to slow down. AP1 & AP2/female, 26 yrs, returned to the scene & assaulted victims with a baseball bat & physical force. V1 was struck on the side with the bat & V2 was struck in the hand & behind his leg by AP1 while AP2 jumped on him from behind, pulled his hair, & hit him. V2 grabbed the bat from the AP's & AP's left the scene. AP1 & AP2 were located a block away & were positively ID'd by the victims & witnesses. AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Assault 3 & AP2 was booked in HCJ for Misdemeanor Assault 5. Victims were treated at the scene by EMS.

21st Ave N & Irving Ave N Tuesday 5/24/11 0005 hrs 11-145180
V1/female, 25 yrs, flagged officers down stating she just had her purse snatched by unknown S1/male, 20-22 yrs. S1 asked V1 what time it was & when V1 reached into her purse, S1 pushed her & grabbed her purse. S1 fled on foot. V1 stated she has seen S1 in the area before. Loss included the purse; ID; & misc. papers. V1 was not injured.

Penn Ave N & Plymouth Ave N Friday 5/27/11 1300 hrs 11-149357
V1/female, 25 yrs, was at Farview Park getting tornado relief when she encountered 3 known female suspects. V1 & suspects disputed something, but V1 would not tell officers what it was about. V1 walked to the above location to catch a bus. While at the bus stop, the 3 suspects & 2 other unknown females drove up. S1 got out & punched V1 in the eye & took her phone. V1 had no sign of injury. V1 did not have phone numbers for the suspects, as the numbers were in the stolen phone. Suspects were GOA.

34th Ave N & Penn Ave N Friday 5/27/11 1550 hrs 11-149469
V1/male, 47 yrs, was on the street in the above area when he observed unknown S1/male, 18-21 yrs, walk out of a candy store. S1 asked if V1 had a cell phone he could use & V1 told him it was broken. S1 then asked for a cigarette & as V1 pulled out the pack, S1 asked V1 what he had in his pocket. S1 showed V1 a revolver in his waistband. V1 gave S1 $30 & S1 fled on foot. V1 was not injured. No additional loss.

26th Ave N & Fremont Ave N Friday 5/27/11 2045 hrs 11-149736
V1/male, 42 yrs, stated he got off the bus when he was followed by unknown S1 & S2, males, 28-30 yrs, who got off the same bus. Suspects asked V1 what he had on him & V1 replied "nothing." Suspects continued to ask V1 what he had & V1 began to remove his backpack. At this time, S1 threw a bottle of cologne at V1, striking him in the head & almost knocking him to the ground. V1 dropped his cell phone & S1 recovered it. V1 struck S1 with a kick & S1 lifted his shirt, showing V1 a handgun in his waistband. S1 told V1 he was going to shoot him, as he grabbed $100 from V1's pocket. Suspects fled on foot. V1 refused medical attention.

27XX Fremont Ave N Saturday 5/28/11 0045 hrs 11-149960
V1/male, 40 yrs, was nude inside his car when police responded to a robbery of dwelling call. V1 informed officers that he received a phone call from a female who invited him over to the above address to hang out. V1 did not know her very well, so he felt it was strange. When V1 entered the residence, 2 unknown males came up behind him & told him it was a stick up. Both suspects had guns pointed directly at V1's head as they ordered him down on the floor. Suspects took 2 cell phones; ID; & $25 in cash. Suspects also ripped off V1's clothes, which left him naked & then took him into the basement. V1's brother was waiting in a car outside, so when V1 escaped from the basement, V1 & his brother drove off to call police. V1 was not injured. Suspects were GOA. It should be noted that one suspect wore a mask during the robbery.

26XX Girard Ave N Saturday 5/28/11 1945 hrs 11-150770
V1/female, 19 yrs, stated she left the grocery store & was approached by unknown S1/male, 19-25 yrs, who asked "What's up?" S1 then walked past her, but returned to V1, pointed a gun at her, & ordered her to the ground. When V1 got on her knees, S1 removed a wallet containing $200 from V1's bra area. S1 then fled on foot. V1 was not injured. Loss included the cash; a credit card; ID; & misc papers.

29XX Irving Ave N Saturday 5/28/11 2150 hrs 11-150872
Officers were flagged down by 2 male victims of a robbery, 14 & 13 yrs, & their parents. Victims told officers they were walking through Jordan Park when they were approached by 4 unknown males, 15-17 yrs. Two of the suspects were on bikes. Suspects cornered the victims & S1 held a semi-automatic pistol on them, while he demanded their money. Victims were too frightened to move, so suspects went through their pockets, taking V1's wallet; ID card; & cell phone. Suspects then fled. Victims ran home & told their parents, who flagged down the squad. The park was searched & officers located V1's wallet & ID card on the bike path. Items were returned to V1. Victims were not injured. Suspects were GOA.

16th Ave N & Knox Ave N Sunday 5/29/11 2320 hrs 11-152060
V1/male, 33 yrs, cut through the park & was at the above location when 3 unknown male suspects, 24-28 yrs, cut through the park from the opposite direction & encountered V1. S1 asked V1 if he had any weed or a cigarette & V1 replied no. S1 then pulled a handgun & demanded whatever he had. V1 raised his hands & S2 went through his pockets. S3 acted as a lookout. Suspects fled after obtaining a cell phone; money order; & misc ID. V1 was not injured. Suspects were GOA.

25th Ave N & Girard Ave N Monday 5/30/11 2222 hrs 11-153004
V1/male, 44 yrs, was walking down the street when he observed unknown S2/male, 18-30 yrs, standing on the corner. S2 asked V1 if he could have a smoke & also if he could have a dollar. V1 responded no to both requests. S2 punched V2 in the face & grabbed him by his shirt. At this time, S1/male, 18-30 yrs, walked up to them & pointed a revolver at V1. S1 struck V1 in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground. Suspects went through his pockets & fled with V1's wallet, which contained $380 in cash. V1 sustained a bump on the back of his head. EMS arrived on the scene & treated V1. V1 refused to go to the hospital. Suspects were GOA.

21XX Glenwood Ave Monday 5/30/11 2235 hrs 11-153033
V1/male, 19 yrs, parked his bike outside a grocery store & made a purchase inside. Unknown S1/male, unknown age, watched V1 make this purchase & left the store at the same time. As V1 was unlocking his bike, S1 stood in front of him with a knife to his neck & demanded V1's money. V1 refused & fought with S1, who punctured V1 3 times with the knife. The wounds were minor & V1 declined EMS. S1 got into a vehicle & drove off. No loss. Suspect was GOA.

26XX Oliver Ave N Tuesday 5/24/11 1839 hrs 11-146039
Officers were dispatched to a person with a gun report. The caller told Dispatch that AP1/male, 23 yrs, was standing at her front door, arguing with her fiancée & he displayed a handgun. Officers observed a male matching the description walking away from the address & he was detained. AP1 had a loaded handgun in his waistband. Checks on the handgun found it to be stolen out of Alabama. AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons.

Irving Ave N & Plymouth Ave N Sunday 5/29/11 0420 hrs 11-151305
Officers observed AP1/male, 35 yrs, loitering in the above area after he was warned earlier to leave. The area is a high drug trafficking, narcotics, & prostitution area. AP1 was also seen spitting on a public surface. AP1 was stopped & he stated he had a knife on him. The blade on the knife was over 4 inches long. AP1 was booked in HCJ for Weapons.

38XX Fremont Ave N Sunday 5/29/11 1516 hrs 11-151609
While responding toa shots fired call, officers observed parties matching the description. When squads approached, AP1/male, 18 yrs, fled through the yards & hid inside the address at the above location. The jacket he was wearing was located in an upstairs bedroom where he was hiding. A large black revolver was recovered in the area where he fled. AP1 was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons.

31XX Dupont Ave N Monday 5/30/11 2333 hrs 11-153135
Officers were on patrol when they heard several gunshots from the area of Lowry & Dupont Aves. AP1/male, 24 yrs, was seen in the area on a bike & officers got into a foot pursuit with this party. Officers observed AP1 pull out a handgun during the chase. AP1 was apprehended & a loaded 9mm handgun was found in the area where officers lost sight of AP1 for a moment. AP1 did not have a permit to carry & was booked in HCJ for PC Weapons.
